Payment Methods

Acceptable Tender Types

The Department of Property Tax accepts the following types of payments: cash, checks, e-checks, money orders and credit cards. Cash payments must be submitted in person. Checks need to be made payable to the Gwinnett County Tax Commissioner. Please pay with funds on deposit in the United States.

Credit cards accepted with a convenience fee are VISA, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. You may use a credit card to pay property taxes online only; credit cards are not accepted in the branch offices.

Note: Dishonored checks are subject to additional penalties. We do not accept counter checks or two-party checks.

Online

Payment may be submitted online using a check draft/e-check or VISA, MasterCard, Discover or American Express credit card. A convenience fee of 2.4% (minimum $1) will be applied to all credit card charges. Click here to begin online payment.

Mail

You may mail payment to the Gwinnett County Tax Commissioner, Department of Property Tax, P.O. Box 372, Lawrenceville, GA 30046 – 0372. Please pay by mail using only a check or money order made payable to the Gwinnett County Tax Commissioner.  Do not send cash by mail.

When submitting payment through the mail, include your payment stub. If you do not have a payment stub, reference your parcel ID or property address on the check or money order. Include a phone number when submitting payment without a stub.

Mail postmarked by the U.S. Postal Service on the due date is accepted as timely received. Postage meter dates will not be honored as timely if received after the due date. In order to assure that payments are postmarked timely, we recommend mailing at least seven working days prior to the due date.

In Person

You may pay in person with cash, check or money order at the main Property Tax Office, located in the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center in Lawrenceville, or at any one of the Tax Commissioner’s five motor vehicle tag branch offices.  For directions, click here.

Tag office locations will only process property tax payments and provide receipts to taxpayers, while the main Property Tax Office will continue to process not only payments, but all other property tax-related transactions as well.

Over the Phone

You may submit payment over the phone using a check. Call TaxTalk 24 at 770-822-8800 and pay your account by telephone. Have the parcel ID, PIN or property address ready when you call.

Drop Off

Use our drop box located outside the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center at 75 Langley Drive, Lawrenceville, GA 30046 or at one of our tag offices. Drop off payments must be in the form of check or money order.  For Tag Office locations, click here.

Important Note!  We do not send tax bills to mortgage companies.  If your property taxes are in an escrow account, your 2010 property tax information will be made available to your mortgage company; however, it is ultimately the responsibility of the property owner to ensure taxes are paid.  If you have questions about whether your mortgage company will be paying your taxes, contact the company directly, especially if your mortgage company has recently changed.
