Understanding Fees

Gwinnett County is now governed by the increased population provision of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated (OCGA) 48-5-23, which requires the Tax Commissioner to collect taxes in two payments.

Tax bills are typically mailed out in July. They are payable in two ways: a single installment or two installments. If you choose to pay in a single installment, the entire balance is due by the first installment due date. If you choose to pay in two installments, a minimum of the first installment amount is due by the first installment date, and the remaining balance is due by November 15.

If either the first or second installment amount printed on your bill is not paid in full by the due date, a 5% penalty is added based on the unpaid installment amount. Beginning November 16, interest accrues at 1% per calendar month (12% annually).
